Son of Arie, the younger Luyendyk was in both Indy Lights and the IRL, but switched to endurance racing and also competed in the A1 GP series for Holland. In 2008, however, he moved back to Indy Lights. Without a drive in 2009, he became a commentator, and since then, has barely driven on the tracks bar offroad truck racing briefly. Arie is now retired and works as a real estate broker in Arizona. He also used to run Zanardi America, a huge karting racing team and importer of all chassis and spare parts. He also does a lot of reality TV and has appeared on dating and cooking shows in the US.
