Killed in a crash at Lakewood Speedway, Bisch was an excellent midget driver, who had a mechanical mind that helped in his success. A World War 2 veteran, Bisch was a pilot during the hostilities, based in the Pacific, who flew torpedo bombers. Once he had finished his service, he took up racing, eventually settling in Phoenix after spells working in a saw mill and helping run a chrome manufacturing business. his son, of the same name, later raced in midget, sprint and dirt cars in the 1970's and 1980's.
