1942
Hiltrup, Munster

Nationality:

Germany

F2 starts:

9 (1969-1972)

Enjoyed a long career, starting in 1963 in junior formulae, then moved in sports and touring cars. He was lucky to survive an accident in 1968, in which he lost a finger. Bernd did all the work himself in preparing the car with money in short supply, which stopped him achieving more. Retired in 1972 after being involved in Bert Hawthorne's fatal accident. The only racing he's done then is vintage racing, which he still does occasionally. For work, he ran a garage and repair shop, which still exists today. He has also acted as honorary chairman of the Hunenburg tennis club, becoming one of the founding members in 1984, acting as chairman for many years.
