After Formula 1, Bondurant went on to do his driving schools (and the books on performance driving that tie in with the schools). Bob still drove occasionally at historic festivals, and did the odd bit of TV commentary as well. In more recent years, Bob lived near where his purpose built school and facility was based at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix after previously being situated at Ontario Speedway and Sears Point. The school shut in 2018. Initially Bob worked for Carroll Shelby as a instructor before forming his own school in 1968 after his competitive career effectively ended a year earlier after a colossal crash at Watkins Glen in the US Road Racing Championship event there saw him break both legs and a shoulder. Sadly, Bob died in 2021 after some years of poor health.
