Has been a huge influence on his son's careers, whether as a supporter or adviser or more directly and briefly, as an IRL team owner. He was also involved in Buddy's Indy 500 attempt in 2013 by running a car. Continues to live in Vail, where he has lived for most of his life. He runs a large hotel there, along with other smaller businesses in the town.
