Spent over twenty years in touring cars, winning the title for three straight years - 1999 to 2001- in Brazil, but then moved to the Formula Truck series. However, in 2009, he returned to touring cars, but in 2011, retired to become patron and consultant to a new Brazilian touring car series. In 2014, whilst Serra remained in his other roles, he returned to racing in stock cars again and continued this in 2015. Still lives near Sao Paulo and now supports his son Daniel's career - Daniel has also carved a niche in touring cars.
