Moved from Formula 1 to CART whilst still very young and then raced there for 8 seasons, despite a number of heavy injuries blunting his chances. He moved to NASCAR and affiliated series in 2003, won at Daytona in 2004, and then raced in Grand-Am. More recently Christian was in sportscars, mainly in the US, as well as other endurance events, although he also raced in touring cars, most recently in Italy. Took a second Daytona win in 2014 and remained in the US Sportscar Series until 2018, concentrating on the North American Endurance Cup in particular. In 2018, he also took his third Daytona 24 Hours win. In 2019, after the Daytona 24 hours, Christian retired from racing to both take up a managerial role in the sport, but also to concentrate on his family.
