Ohio based irregular of the 1920's, who seemed destined never to start at Indianapolis, but in 1928, Carl Green, aka Pop Green, built Belt a supercharged 91 cubic inch V8 Offenhauser, which Belt got into the race, lasting 32 laps. It was the first time a V-type engine appeared at the Indianapolis 500. In truth, this was the highlight of Belt's career which was largely undistinguished.
