Name also spelt as Burton. Claude was mainly based in Massachusetts and New York for his brief career. His wife died of cancer in 1937 and Claude left the family home, including his young children. Berton's appearance at Indianapolis was his highest profile event, where he actually performed very well; qualifying sixteenth and finishing eleventh, but Claude also raced on dirt ovals in the late 1920's.
