Initally got into racing by helping a friend prepare a car, before his friend backed out and Eddie drove instead. Enjoying himself immensely, Zalucki drove for around 15 years, initially on dirt-tracks, and then in big cars, winning amongst other things, the 1939 and 1940 Michigan State Championship. Retired from driving in 1949, and then later became a very noted mechanic, particulary for Chevrolet, and also built a couple of Indy roadsters.
