World Speed record ace killed in a crash at Woodbridge Speedway, dying later in hospital. of a fractured skull. Farmer was orphaned at a young age but had a bit of luck when he was supported by a prominent local doctor, eventually attending a Bible School in Nashville. By 1920, he was working in a Philadelphia shipyard before taking up racing, initially on two wheels, in 1923, before moving to cars in 1924. He was a regular racer in Pennsylvania, becoming an expert on tracks like Pottstown and West Chester. His career flourished even more from 1928 onwards when he joined the AAA series. Farmer lived in Philadelphia.
