Now back in Sweden, and until 2018 was racing in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, having won the Swedish Touring Cars title in 1998, 2003 and 2007 and then in 2012, he won the TTA Racing Elite League. He retired in 2019 to work as a haulage contractor. Ekblom has been a long-time owner of a kart track and he was influential in fellow Swede Marcus Ericsson's career - spotting his talent at the age of nine and advising him and his family the best route to go in karting. In 2016, Ekblom dovetailed the above with a drive for Volvo in the World Touring Car Championship.
