For most of the late 1990's onwards, Jacques successfully raced snowmobiles, but in 2008, he was badly injured in a snowmobiling accident, which saw him break his pelvis and rule him out of racing for a year. However, he recovered and returned to racing, only to be injured in another crash in 2009. He then continued to race in snowmobiles, but was badly injured again in 2013 in another crash. He had intended to carry on, but in 2014, he was diagnosed with cancer. He initally retired from the sport, but returned to snowmobiling in 2016 whilst his health was good enough. Now fully retired, bar one last event in 2022 at Trois Rivieres, he likes to, to use his own words, tinker in his garage. Still keeps links with both snowmobiling and racing.
