Killed in a midget race, just after his first Champ Car win. Highly rated, varied driver who had many wins in sprint cars. Served in the Korean War. His widow, Betty, later worked in F1 and at Indianapolis, and she is still involved in the sport as she publishes the Ladies 500, a who's who of females in the sport.
