Later became a car owner and builder, and was chief mechanic to Bobby Marshman. Also worked as a mechanic in Southport, Indiana, where he ran a garage and workshop in Madison Avenue. Langley also ran a number of cars, but sadly Bill Mackey was killed in one of his specials. Langley was a decent driver, who was runner-up in the 1950 AAA Midwest Big Car series. Joe also worked as a distributor before his death from a sudden heart-attack.
