Now works in TV, and has done so for some while, becoming a pit-lane reporting specialist. Jon finished his racing career in the early 1990's to start the new chapter in his life after debuting in 1978. Unlike many Americans, before, during and after, he didn't initially go through the American ranks to progress, but switched to British Formula Ford 1600 and Formula 3. It was 1988 that propelled Jon's career forward, winning the ARS Championship which saw him move up to CART shortly after, but he was already working in various roles in television at the time before leaving racing permanently.
