Very likeable man who died after a fight with cancer. Ex-Royal Air Force man who served as a navigator during the war, then became a timber merchant after World War 2. A massive football fan (He supported Tottenham Hotspur), he played football for his local team who organised a trip to Silverstone in 1951. Ken found a new sporting passion, later becoming a Formula 3 driver but he swiftly realised he would not reach the top level and so went into team ownership and management, initially becoming Cooper's Formula Junior team manager. Was boss of the Matra F1 effort before starting his own title-winning, ever popular team. After years of struggle, he sold up and left Formula 1 but remained close to the sport until his death, briefly acting as BRDC President in 2000, before his illness became too severe for him to continue.
