Now retired from racing after a long driving career. His time is now taken up by being a racing instructor and Klaus currently works for Opel. Klaus was born and raised in Poland, but raced under a German licence due to both Bytom's historic German links, but also because it would progress his career better than coming from the then still-Communist Poland. Klaus, who now lives near Dortmund, has primarily raced in Germany throughout his career, bar a successful but brief spell in British Formula 3000.
