Father of the late Scott, Lee still owned Brayton Engineering until just before his 85th birthday. In 2018, the company stopped trading but in their time they worked closely with Buick, amongst others, to assemble engines. Lee suffered tragedy by not only outliving Scott but also another of his three sons, Gregory, who was blind, but still made a career as a musician and died in 2014. Brayton started his racing career in 1953 and carried on until 1975, when he wanted to start a sand and gravel business, but to do so, he had to retire from racing for the bank to approve a loan. In 2020, an aquatic activity centre was created from some of Lee Brayton's land and in turn, the centre is now named Lake Brayton after Lee and Scott.
