Went on to drive rallies in Italy including, most notably, the Monza Rally. Was racing in Italian GT's, but at a race at Valencia, Marzio had a heart-attack and crashed, dying shortly afterwards of a combination of the heart-attack and his injuries. Swiss, but raced internationally with an Italian licence, hence the confusion over his nationality. Romano was a lawyer by profession and amateur racer since the mid-1970's. Marzio was competitive in Italian Formula 3, but also competed in Can-Am and the Ferrari 348 Challenge, taking a notable win at Spa in 1994. Romano, who had heart problems prior to his death, was at his death in the lead of his class in the Italian GT Championship.
