Now runs a driver training course and top kart circuit in Dusseldorf, Germany, but he is also a qualified banker. Otto twice won the German Kart Championship (in both 1982 and 1984) and then moved up to the Formula Ford 1600 European Championship. His progress earned him a factory BMW drive in sportscars and a Benetton Formula 1 test. Thereafter though, Rensing's career stalled at Formula 3 level, despite being more than capable against strong opposition. Otto then raced in the DTM for a while, before finishing his career in 1993 in the Porsche Carrera Cup.
