DTM ace, cousin of Dario Franchitti, who made it to Formula 1 in 2011, but lost his seat in 2013. Now back in the DTM, although he has a role as Williams F1 reserve driver after a similar role with McLaren. In 2017, it paid dividends as when Felipe Massa was poorly for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Di Resta slotted in instead for his first Grand Prix in over 3 years. He is also director of his family's leisure establishments, including nightclubs, in his native West Lothian. Paul won the 2010 DTM title and the 2006 European Formula 3 title to follow up on his 2004 McLaren Autosport/BRDC Award, but his career has not had the same momentum ever since 2013.
