Legendary BMW engineer and engine designer who spent over 40 years with the marque. Joined them in 1957, working in the research and development department, specialising in camshafts and pistons. From 1960, with Alexander von Falkenhausen, Rosche started working on engine design, and barring a brief interlude, discouraged after Gerhard Mitter's death, Rosche was involved in all of BMW's sporting efforts - whether in touring cars, sportscars, Formula 2 or Formula 1. Retired from BMW in 1999, but remained involved with the firm, who held - and indeed still - hold him in great reverence. He was a very persuasive man, and he was one of the main reasons BMW went into Formula 1, and also why so many of the old cars and drivers appear at historic festivals which Rosche enjoyed appearing at.
