Ex-army man, who remained linked to the sport through historic festivals in both Europe and the US. He was still involved right up until his death from a heart-attack in 2010 at his home. Warr, an officer in the Guards Division of the British Army and a graduate of Sandhurst, joined Lotus in 1958 as a salesman. He then moved to the racing side of the business and was in charge of the sales of their racing cars, but also then became a racing driver. He was at his best in Formula Junior, winning at the Nurburgring in 1962 and also won a sportscar race in Japan in 1963, in what was the first-titled Japanese Grand Prix. Warr became competitions manager for Lotus in 1969 and remained in that role until Colin Chapman's death in 1982, at which point Warr took over as team principal, staying there for another seven years. However, he didn't spend all that time at Lotus as he had spells at Wolf and Fittipaldi, moving back over to Lotus in 1981.
