Piercarlo has become as well known for his team management roles as he is for his driving career. Until the end of the 2019 season, he ran variations of his team in Italian touring cars, GT racing, the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup and other Italian formulae, but did also used to run Italy's A1 GP team and an Auto GP team. Ghinzani also has a car dealership in Bergamo. Ghinzani, a likeable honest fellow, was not without talent, but still holds the record for most the most Grand Prix's without qualifying in the top ten. He also, at one stage, nearly bought out the Osella team but chose instead to focus on his own business, which he still does today.
