Raced mainly in sportscars and touring cars after Formula 1, in which he was probably one of the most under-rated drivers of recent times, with a string of brilliant performances in non top-line cars. Had a brief comeback in the late 2000's, with spells in the Grand Prix Masters, touring cars and Italian GT's, but at the end of the 2010 season, he retired. Still races, however, in historic and special events and also works in Italian media as a pundit on Formula 1. However, most of his time is spent with the family firm - previously Master Martini, now Unigra, a food production company that specialises in pastries and ice creams.
