Despite Formula 3000 success, he spent a season on the sidelines once he got to the end of his Formula 3000 career, having just finished a strong-runner up to Bjorn Wirdheim. Ricardo then had a CART test in 2005, however, which then led to a full drive, but then moved back to Brazil, racing stockcars, which he did for some years. After a spell in the Blancpain endurance series with a team from his homeland, he went back racing stockcars in Brazil, but hasn't had a drive since 2016 and spends most of his time running the three businesses he and Rodrigo have; two agricultural businesses and one sporting promotional business. As well as impressing in Formula 3000, Ricardo also won the 2000 Italian Formula 3000 title, the 1996 British Formula Ford winter title and also won three races in Sud-Am Formula 3.
