Stefano was a Formula Italia and Formula Abarth graduate who then spent many years in Italian Formula 3, finishing runner-up in the series in 1983. After finishing his single-seater career, Livio then raced in touring cars in Italy, before then going into sportscars. He took up instructing in the late 1980's, and despite being over fifty years of age, won his class in the Italian GT Championship in both 2007 and 2009.
