Long time Aston employee who began as a draughtsman there in 1949. Later moved to Ford and worked in their automotion department. Later became a lecturer in motorsport engineering. In later life, he visited historic events, keeping links with both marques. Cutting's finest achievement was Aston's 1959 Le Mans win, with a car that Ted had designed not only the body, chassis and suspension for, but also the engine and was the chief engineer. Cutting started his working life as a draughtsman for a spark plug business, KLG, before working for Allard in the same position for three years before joining Aston. Amongst Cutting's finest honours was becoming a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
