Very popular fellow, who worked as an engineer for Rolls Royce before embarking on a long motorsport career. Wrote a hugely entertaining book about his motorsport days and remained in touch with the sport until his death. Rudd first got involved in the sport as a teenager and then became an apprentice engineer. He then served in World War Two, flying for the RAF on over thirty missions, many in a Lancaster bomber. Rolls-Royce had a link with BRM which saw Rudd move over to their Formula 1 project. He remained there for aeons, taking the team to two constructor's titles and one driver's championship. Tony moved to Lotus in 1969 and remained there until retirement in a range of roles including both racing and road car related projects.
