Has now taken up running and competes in marathons close to his home town, where he still lives. Previously worked as an Italian lower formulae team boss, but is still linked to the sport as a race instructor, coach and Valerio also runs a racing and high performance driving school. Scassellati was a stalwart of Italian Formula 3 and European Formula 3000 before his brief International Formula 3000 spell. Later raced in touring cars before retiring as a driver. In more recent years, Valerio has also worked as a business consultant. Still lives in his home town.
