Yusuke joined Honda in 1986 and became their chief engineer of the Research and Development department in 2000. Ten years later, he became the senior chief engineer in the same division. In 2014, he became managing officer and director of Honda's Automobile R & D centre, their research centre and their smart mobility development division. He then switched to a racing role in 2016, when he took over the troubled engine project with McLaren. Yusuke previously worked in Formula 1 with either Honda or Mugen with both Jordan and BAR. In 2017, he was replaced as the Formula 1 engine head, but remains with Honda in a technical and engineering role.
