3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 5 Jan 1968 pp10-15. Motor Sport Feb 1968 pp94-96,99. Motoring News 4 Jan 1968 pp1,10-12. Autosport introduced the two pages of race results data which would become familiar over the next ten years, and gave chassis numbers for all cars except the LDS and Stewart's backup Matra MS7, and its Standard House stablemate omited chassis numbers at this race. Motor Sport gave chassis numbers for all cars except the Honda, the LDS and Stewart's backup Matra. Autosport called van Rooyen's Cooper a T75 which chassis number FL/1/65, but Motor Sport just gave it as F1-1-65. The arrival of Matra in Formula 1 made the French company the 11th constructor to appear in the 3-litre Formula 1, and would be the last new constructor for over two years. Pearce's cars never actually made an appearance at a Formula 1 race; nor would Alpine's later in 1968, and Cosworth's in 1969.
