3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 23 Oct 1969 pp9-15 (report by David Phipps). Motor Sport November 1969 p1216 (report by ARM, Andrew Marriott, then Sports Editor of Motoring News). Motoring News 23 Oct 1969 p6 (report also by ARM). Sport Auto Decembre 1969 pp18-23 (report uncredited). Race Report 3 p89 (by Eddie Guba). Motor Sport and Motoring News only published very brief reports. ARM added further detail such as practice times and lap chart in "ARM in Mexico" (Motoring News 30 Oct 1969 p20). Motoring News also had a very interesting table of "Formula 1 Fortunes, Car by Car" (MN 6 Nov 1969 p10) which gave the race history of every F1 to appear during 1969.

The entry was almost entirely as at Watkins Glen, as the cars had been transported by road. Graham Hill was missing because of his accident at the Glen, Miles replaced Mario Andretti in the Lotus 63, Eaton was promoted to the oldest of the three P139s, and the P138 had been sent off to an exhibition.
