3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 9 Oct 1969 pp8-15 (report by David Phipps). Motor Sport November 1969 pp1230,1232,1246 (report by ARM, Andrew Marriott, then Sports Editor of Motoring News). Motoring News 9 Oct 1969 pp12-14 (report also by ARM). Sport Auto Novembre 1969 pp30-35 (report by "Elizabeth Hayward", the nom de plume of Priscilla Phipps, journalist, ghost-writer and wife of David Phipps who was reporting on this race for Autosport). Race Report 3 p89 (by Eddie Guba).

The entry was as at the Canadian GP, but with the well-heeled 23-year-old F5000 driver George Eaton replacing Bill Brack in the BRM P138, and BRM flying out a brand new P139 to give Surtees a spare car. Fortunately neither of the Canadian Climax-engined cars attended. Matra had flown out a brand new MS80 monocoque in case of incident, ARM noting that the tub would become redundant very shortly as it was "virtually impossible" to convert to the bag tanks required for 1970. ARM classed the Ferrari as a private entry by NART using a borrowed Ferrari.
