3-litre Formula 1 Non-championship events 1966-1983

These results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen (allen@oldracingcars.com) if you can help with our research.

With Alan Phillips writing the Autosport report, it was no surprise that the data was well organised. Ferrari brought two of the 312Bs, March arrived with a full set of four 711s, including the brand new 711-06 with Alfa engine for Peterson to use leaving his Ford-engined 711-02 as a spare, Lotus had two 72Ds and the 56B turbine, Surtees brought both TS9s, McLaren brought just a single M14A, and BRM had two P153s and a brand new P160 as a spare. The privateers were Frank Williams Racing cars with the old March 701 for Ray Allen with Jackie Epstein as team manager, the car having been rebuilt on one of Ken Tyrrell's spare 701 tubs. Skip Barber was in the Gene Mason 711 as usual, and Xavier Perrot had a drive in Jo Siffert's rarely-seen 701. Robs Lamplough completed the entry list with a pair of early BRM V12s for himself and Bernd Terbeck, these being 133-01 for the team boss and a P126 "believed to be 126-02" for the customer. Doodson in Motoring News agreed with this assessment, noting that 133-01 was green and the probable 126-02 had been "tarted up" in Yardley livery. Pritchard suffered a typo, calling them 133-05 and "believed to be" 126-02. That came to 21 cars for 19 drivers. Trimmer had been due to drive Fittipaldi's 72D as the Brazilian was in hospital in Lausanne recovering from a road accident, but the turbine failed so Walker took over the 72D and Trimmer was left a non-starter. Terbeck's engine broke so he was also a non-starter. The Alfa engine in Peterson's 711 also went off, so he raced 711-02. Motor Sport mentioned all the same cars, but did not give the chassis number of the Terbeck BRM.
