3-litre Formula 1 Non-championship events 1966-1983

These results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen (allen@oldracingcars.com) if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 25 Mar 1971 pp29-33 (by Simon Taylor). Motoring News 25 Mar 1971 pp9-10,24 (by 'MGD' Mike Doodson). Motor Sport May 1971 p434-435 (by 'DSJ' Denis Jenkinson). Autocourse 1971-72 pp134-135 summary only (by David Phipps). The Motor Racing Year No 3 (by Anthony Pritchard) pp121-124.

Autosport listed the cars in sufficient detail to identify them, but gave very few chassis numbers, Motoring News also described them thoroughly, and gave a few more chassis numbers, and Motor Sport listed chassis numbers in the results. Trimmer ended up using Emerson Fittipaldi's Lotus 72 as there were not enough engines available to prepare his intended 49C. Bob Sparshott was running the Clarke-Mordaunt-Guthrie March 701. MN noted that Jo Bonnier did not arrive.
