Notes on the cars:

  1. March 812 [12] (Satoru Nakajima): To I & I Racing Developments and fitted with a Honda engine for Satoru Nakajima to drive Japanese F2, winning two races. Retained for 1982 by what had become John Player Special Team Ikuzawa and raced until mid-season when his replacement March 822 was ready. By 2007, this was in the Honda Collection Hall, still in Nakajima's Canon/John Player Special livery.
  2. Lola T850 [HU1] (Kazuyoshi Hoshino): New to Nova Enginering in Japan, fited with a BMW engine and entered by Heroes Racing Corporation for Kazuyoshi Hoshino to drive in Japanese F2 in 1981. Retained for 1982. Subsequent history unknown.
  3. March 812 [11] (Naohiro Fujita): To Speed Star Wheel Racing Team and driven by Naohiro Fujita in Japanese F2 in 1981. Retained by Speed Star for 1982 when it was raced by Motoharu Kurosawa. Subsequent history unknown but likely to have become a Grand Champion series sports car.
  4. Toleman TG280 [07] (Kunimitsu Takahashi): New to Suzuki Racing for Kunimitsu Takahashi in the Japanese F2 series, only appearing at one race at the end of 1980. Retained by Takahashi for 1981, and again for 1982 when it had a BMW engine. Neither Toleman was seen during the 1983 Japanese season, but two returned in 1984, both with BMW engines; presumably one of these was TG280-07. This car has been on display in a museum in Japan in Advan livery, but its current location is unclear.
  5. Toleman TG280 [06] (Huub Rothengatter): New to Docking Spitzley Racing for Siegfried Stohr to race in F2 in 1980. The car was then sold to the Yokohama/Advan tyre company in Japan, where it was raced by Huub Rothengatter, Kenny Acheson and Mike Thackwell in 1981 and 1982. Alan Docking recalls that the car was not returned to his team. Subsequent history unknown.
