Sauber (1993-2000)

Stayed with Sauber until 2002, before joining Honda and their chassis development. No longer in Formula 1, he now lives in the US where he is a technical director for a fasteners and joining systems business. Ress qualified as an engineering student before joining Mercedes-Benz in 1977 as an engineer. He then switched to BMW, largely on road car programmes, but this also allowed him an opportunity to be involved in the marque's sportscar efforts, including a colloboration with Peter Sauber in 1983. In 1985, Ress left BMW to join Sauber as their designer, which he remained doing for another fifteen years, seeing numerous sportscar wins and championships, but also producing neat and quick Formula 1 cars when Sauber moved over to Formula 1 from 1993 onwards.
