Became the managing director of ERA until his death from a heart-attack. Johnson was a latecomer to the sport, who took up the sport after World War 2. But he proved his ability by winning the Spa 24 Hour race in 1948, which he followd up with a 2nd place a year later. Sportscar racing was his forte, but he finished his driving career in rallying in 1954. By then he was beginning to have heart trouble, which led to his early death 5 years later.
