Sadly died in 2014, after years of ill-health. However, it was testament to his toughness that he didn't let ill-health stop him appearing at events - indeed, he attended an event the day before his death. Sir Jack regularly attended motor racing events, including the Goodwood Revival Race in the UK, where he was lucky to survive a crash in a race in 1999, as well as the Monterey Historic Automobile Race held in the US. He received his knighthood in 1979, the 1st F1 driver to be honoured. In 2008, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia, one of the country's highest rewards. Previously, he ran a F3 team, a hugely successful Grand Prix team and also ran a number of garages and dealerships. In 2010, a town in Western Australia was named after him, which is particularly poignant as it is the site of the old Caversham race track. His three sons' followed him into the sport, but so too have two of his grandsons. Just before his death, they both won major races, one in the UK and one in the US - Jack was delighted with that - a happy way to remember him - as keen and delighted with Brabham success to the last.
