Primarily a road car designer, Hild was with Porsche for decades. His most noted work, other than his involvement with the Grand Prix car, was his design work on the Porsche 550 Spyder sports road car. He also worked on the Porsche 911 and the Porsche 904/6 Carrera GTS sportscar. When Porsche did focus on Grand Prix racing, he was one of the competition manager's in charge.
