After a spell of dirt-track and midget racing, Donnie retired to run a sprint car series. He now runs a real estate business in his home town, which takes up most of his time now. Beechler also works in TV as a summariser. Beechler made the Indianapolis 500 in his late 30's after a long time racing in sprint cars, which saw him win the Chili Bowl Nationals in 1995 and finish as runner-up in the USAC Silver Crown series in 1997. Beechler is also involved in local Christian community projects and returns to the Indianapolis 500 every year as a spectator. In 2016, he was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame.
