Not the same man as Edward Towers, 1911 riding mechanic, who later served in World War One and World War Two. Tower was a manager at Studebaker, who also ran a cyclecar company with Bob Evans, his racing colleague and friend. Tower - whose real name was Elmer Vernon Jack Tower, remained involved in the car industry all his working life and had many patents to his name regarding the automotive industry. These included a clutch disk, a clutch construction device, a transmission device, a clutch plate and a steering wheel invention.
