Former racing mechanic (including for Ralph Mulford), who was very successful in road races between 1909 and 1911. After then, his career peetered out and he moved into the car industry. Later also worked on patents and promotional appearances and worked as a consultant. Horan was originally going to race at the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911, but broke a leg in practice. However he was still present at the first event as the hospital arranged for him to sit in a recliner car and watch the race.
