A family member of the Revlon Empire, he was killed in a testing crash prior to the South African GP. Peter was an university graduate who initially took up and advertising role before starting racing in 1960. Helped by good friend Teddy Mayer, Peter moved up to Formula 1 pretty early and soon realised it was a bit too rapid a rise and reestablished himself accordingly. Brother Doug was killed in 1967 in a Danish Formula 3 race so Peter went on to win in America - he was the 1969 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year and also won the 1971 Can-Am title before his ultimately tragic return to Grand Prix racing.
