Of Czech descent. An engineer, based in Indiana and Florida, he ran a machine shop and service facility for the construction and manufacturing industries, as well as preparing old racing engines, and although he stepped down for running it in the '70's, he stayed involved with it until his death. As far as a racer was concerned, he was a decent dirt track racer, as well as sprint cars, racing for over 10 years from the mid-30's onwards.
