Killed in a 300 Mile race when he was badly injured in a three-car crash at the Sioux City Speedway, dying of his injuries after being in a coma for a day. Dirt track racer who also worked as a chauffeur, Cox grew up and worked on a farm in Ohio initially. He then based himself in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he competed in a number of races, including some road races in the mid 1910's. Cox's only Indianapolis start didn't last that long, with him dropping out with mechanical issues after just twelve laps.
