Born:

05 Aug 1936
Hastings, Michigan

Nationality:

United States

Indy 500s:

24 (1965-1992)

The 1976 Indycar Champion and 1973 and 1982 Indianapolis 500 winner, Johncock drove in the Firestone Heroes of Indy race in Texas in the mid 2000's, but otherwise has kept a relatively low-profile since leaving the sport in the early 1990's to tend to his farm near his birthplace. Gordon is now involved in the timber industry - in which he was involved in before racing - he lives near West Branch, Michigan and has a sawmill, and despite being in his 9th decade now, he still visits the sawmull every day. He also worked with Lee Brayton running a cement business and also ran a ranch in Arizona. Johncock spent an age in the sport, beginning as a seventeen-year-old back in 1954.
