Multiple title winner in NASCAR, with over eighty wins and 375 top then finishes over 675 races in a twenty year career, Johnson fulfilled a long-held ambition to move into Indycar in 2021. Jimmie was a motorcyclist and off-roader in his youth, but also raced trucks and in ARCA for a time before his NASCAR debut. Johnson also competed in water polo as a teenager and still competes in triathlons. He also founded and runs a charitable foundation in his name that supports children and families in need. After a full-time Indycar effort in 2022, Johnson decided to retire from racing and focus on an array of other projects. He reversed that decision somewhat, as he returned to NASCAR in 2023, but as a team owner with some selected drives, which he continues in 2024.
